The Congregation of Holy Cross was established in 1837 by the Venerable Basil Anthony Moreau, C.S.C. Fr. Moreau began his ministry as a diocesan priest who was committed to pastoral work and education in Le Mans, France. His unique vision reached beyond the local church inspiring a congregation of priests, brothers and sisters who, from the very beginning, spanned the globe establishing missions, schools and heath care facilities. His model for service was the Holy Family; men and women of faith surrendering themselves to the will of God for the salvation of souls.
Today, building upon the foundation he laid, the Indiana Province has institutions staffed by Holy Cross religious in the United States, Africa, Asia and Latin America, making Holy Cross a truly international congregation.
